I didn’t do it to earn any favors or to impress him, but last week I wrote my mentor a heartfelt thank you note.When I walked into our meeting Monday, he was not only grateful, but it was as though I had taught him something…or at least reminded him of something powerful.My mentor is much older than me (mid-60’s) and wiser than I could ever hope to be in three lifetimes. But he also lives in 2013. He has an iPhone. He Facebooks (is that a word?). Three weeks ago he was jammin’ to Jack Johnson on Pandora when I walked in. In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, even he had forgotten to power of handwritten thank you notes. See, you can teach an old dog new tricks. Or at least remind him of the ones he already knows. Another day…another person joining the revolution. It was a great Monday. Go make it a great Thursday and don’t forget to tell someone how thankful you are today…in writing. P.S. If you happen to know my mentor, please don’t tell him I called him an old dog.
